Cisco Systems Initiates Cloud Partner Program

Enterprise networking firm Cisco has launched a partner program that seeks to aid its partners in moving to the cloud.
The Cloud Partner Program (CPP), which was announced at the company's Partner Summit, will allow Cisco partners to take up any of three cloud computing roles: Cloud Builder, Cloud Provider and Cloud Services Reseller.
According to the company, Cloud Builder is meant for partners who want to design and deploy cloud-based infrastructures based on public and private clouds. Partners will be focusing on three main aspects of deploying a cloud infrastructure: Infrastructure, Management Applications and Cloud Professional Services.
Cloud Providers on the other hand, will be able to offer public cloud-based services to the market. Partners will be able to rebrand Cisco products and offer them as their own.

Cloud Services Resellers will be allowed to offer the Cisco-powered cloud-based products developed by Cloud Provider partners.
The CPP will supply Cloud Builder and Provider partners with branding, infrastructure support, access to channel partners for marketing and most importantly, financing.
Ralph Nimergood, VP of Cisco’s worldwide partner organisation, said in a statement, “We wanted to have a program in which virtually all of our partners could participate… We are using existing certifications and specialisations to validate competencies when giving designations [in the program].”
